One day, Henny Penny was pecking corn in the farmyard when suddenly an acorn fell from the tree above and hit her on the head.
"Oh dear," thought Henny Penny, "the sky is falling down! I must go and tell the king!"
As she rushes off, her friends that she meets along the way, soon all follow along in a panic to inform the king that the sky is falling.
The moral to be drawn changes according to the version of the story. The moral may be interpreted as to not be a "Chicken," but to have courage even when it feels like the sky is falling. In other versions, the fable is interpreted as a warning about gullibility. It teaches us to not believe everything one is told and not to panic at the slightest provocation.
So, we continue to persevere through the many acorns that fall and remember to not be a Henny Penny.
